Rewriting Our Stories

A hand-drawn animation created for Dr. Derek Gladwin’s book Rewriting Our Stories: Education, Empowerment and Well-being.

Everything is drawn in front of you, in marker, at the speed of the argument: two figures reaching for each other, poppies opening across their bodies, stems running through them in green and turquoise. The book’s claim is that the stories we are handed can be revised, and the animation makes that literal — the line is still being laid down while you watch, so nothing on the page has settled into its final form.
